Home Learning Tasks
Hello 5R! I hope you are all well and working just as hard at home as you do at school. Below are the tasks I have set for you this week (I will update them every weekend ready for the week ahead). You can choose how and when you work through the tasks but I've given you a timetable if you would like to follow it. Please make sure you are practising your reading, handwriting and times tables every day! You've all worked incredibly hard this year so keep it up!
Please email your work to once you've completed your tasks or if you've got any exciting news to tell me! If you need any help or have any questions about your work, please don't hesitate to email me and ask . I am still going into school but I will try and respond as quickly as possible for you.
Here is an overview of the tasks I'd like you to complete this week (w/c 30.3.20). I don't mind how you complete the work (e.g. handwritten, word document, photos). Please do what is easiest and best for you.

Watch CBBC's Newsround to see what's been going on this week.
Mental Maths Starters:
Complete the questions on the Mental Maths Quiz throughout the week - you don't have to answer all of the questions in one go!
Go on 'Hit the Button' and practise a times table that you're not very confident with.
Complete the times table grid to see if you can complete it all in 4 minutes. If you do, email me with your time!
This week, we are recapping addition and subtraction. Each day, I would like you to carefully read through the PowerPoints and have a go at the questions.
Task 1 - Unfortunately, we were not able to visit the residents at Holly Tree Care Home. This could be a very lonely time for them at the moment so I would like you to write to the residents to cheer them up. You might want to write them a poem or a happy story or just tell them what you've been up to! This will need to be typed and sent via email or you could write it, take a photograph of it and email it to them at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Note: Make sure you get an adult to check your letters first or email them to me to check.
Task 2 - Write a book review based on 'Viking Boy' using the book review sheet attached below. I don't mind if you'd rather use your own template for the book review - just remember to include the relevant information.
This week, I would like you to complete the mini SPaG tests that I've attached below. There are two to have a go at but only a few questions in each. Please send me your scores so I can see how you've done.
profit/prophet, stationary/stationery, steal/steel, whose/who’s
Free time to learn new skills!
It's important that you give yourself some free time each week. During this time, I would like you to learn a new skill and practise it. Why not spend a bit of time outside and do some gardening? If it’s not nice weather, why not do a little bit of baking? Let me know what you did or even send a photo of you practising your new skill!
If you have paint, watch this and have a go at one of the activities: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vY49eNceLBo
If you don’t have paint, watch this video, pick an animal and have a go at drawing it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lMEOYlkX5ZA
Because Easter is on it's way, I would like you to make an Easter card to give to someone you live with. I have attached some templates and ideas for you to use.
Do some Just Dance videos throughout the week and take part in the daily Joe Wicks videos at 9am every morning on YouTube. I will be doing it so make sure you are too!
David Attenborough and the world around us: Go to the website below and choose a lesson that interests you. Watch the clips and follow the instructions. Then download the activity sheet and have a go. It would be fun if some of you sent me your findings and displayed them in a creative way. https://eden.uktv.co.uk/education/inspired-attenborough/
Hi there - if it is your birthday whilst we are not at school then we haven't forgotten you! I have attached a link to Happy Birthday! So, get the family up - sing Happy Birthday and dance to your heart's content - the whole school won't be watching this time! I have also attached the links to other songs that we sometimes sing on a Tuesday morning - have a good sing song - singing makes you feel positive and fills you with energy. Have fun singing - remember the actions to some - and behave for people at home! Miss Morris
Message from Miss Morris - Hello all and I hope you are all keeping OK and trying hard to follow all of the rules flying around at the moment. I have put on some Geography and PSHCE resources below for you to have a go at.
The Geography is all about the Water Cycle - a few activities to complete and if you fancied it, you could always try an independent write (type) and create a 'Danny - the water droplet' of your own - the adventures a water droplet would have during all of the different processes....
The PSHCE builds on the equality, fairness and discrimination we have been talking about in lessons - there are some case studies to read through. You could then choose one and then create your own news report about the situation - maybe having a biased point of view!
Thank you and stay safe
